Monkey Bread (formerly "Monkey Break")

Sadly no monkey is included in monkey bread
Ingredients
1 cup milk
2 pkg dry yeast
4 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup melted butter
3 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 egg slightly beaten
1/4 cup additional butter
1/4 cup oil
Preparation
Scald milk and allow to cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in scalded milk in a large bowl. Beat in sugar, salt, butter, flour and egg.

Let double in a warm place and punch down. On a floured board, roll dough out to 1/4". Cut in diamond pattern 2 1/2 inches apart.

Dip each piece in a mixture of cooking oil and butter. Arrange in a a 9-inch ring mold and let rise until almost double. Bake 400F for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Pull apart to serve.
